What skills and experience do you have that makes you the best person for this job?
A successful County Auditor needs two essential qualities: sound financial management and effective leadership. Throughout my career, I've had the opportunity to develop both. My background includes more than a decade of financial and operational leadership, where I have managed budgets, payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, financial reporting, and day-to-day business operations. I have analyzed financial statements and key performance indicators to improve efficiency, support informed decision making, and ensure fiscal responsibility. During my five years in the Adams County Auditor's Office, I have built on that experience by working with county financial systems, processing public funds accurately and efficiently, and gaining firsthand knowledge of the responsibilities that come with managing taxpayer dollars.
While leading employees in both the private and public sectors, I've learned that leadership is more than managing people. It means earning trust, communicating openly, and creating an environment where employees can succeed. By building strong relationships, setting clear expectations, and leading by example, I've helped create workplaces that are accountable, collaborative, and committed to excellent customer service. I've also mentored first-time managers, helping them develop the confidence and skills to become effective leaders through coaching, constructive feedback, strategic planning, and team building.
As your County Auditor, I will bring that combination of financial expertise and leadership to the Auditor's Office. I will continue to be a careful steward of taxpayer dollars, support the employees who serve our community, and ensure the office operates with professionalism, efficiency, transparency, and accountability for the citizens of Adams County.
Do you intend on working fulltime?
Absolutely. Serving as County Auditor is a full-time commitment, and I intend to dedicate myself fully to the job from day one.
The Auditor is responsible for assembling the county budget, overseeing the Department of Licensing, managing accounts payable and payroll, maintaining the accuracy and security of public records, and protecting the integrity of our elections. These responsibilities affect every county department and every resident of Adams County. They deserve a leader who is fully engaged, accessible, and committed to serving the public.
I also recognize that the transition into this role will require additional time and dedication. As a newly elected Auditor, I will complete the required state training for county officials, including courses in records management, election administration and security, public finance, and the responsibilities of county government. I view continuing education as an investment in serving the people of Adams County effectively.
My commitment extends beyond simply maintaining the office. I have a clear vision for strengthening its operations by:
Building strong working relationships with the County Commissioners, fellow elected officials, department heads, and county employees.
Providing timely, accurate, and meaningful financial reporting to support informed decision making.
Promoting exceptional customer service for every resident who interacts with the Auditor's Office.
Successfully completing the county's payroll software upgrade.
Preserving institutional knowledge by developing succession planning and documenting key processes.
Continuing to protect the integrity of our elections while developing contingency plans to ensure election operations remain secure and reliable during unexpected disruptions.
The citizens of Adams County deserve an Auditor who is fully committed to the office, prepared to lead, and focused on continuous improvement. That is the commitment I will bring every day.
